As a librarian, helping others by acquiring, organizing and disseminating knowledge as always been important to me.

Where did you go to school?

University of Richmond, VA (BA-Education); City University of New York (MLS))

What path led you to working with Pushing Pink Elephants?

After I was diagnosed with Stage 3a breast cancer in October of 2015, a friend told me about PPE and encouraged me to sign up for a PUSH basket. When my basket arrived, filled with both practical and inspirational gifts, it made me feel less alone, and helped get me through my treatments and surgeries. Once I recovered, I very much wanted to give back.

How is serving on the Board of Pushing Pink Elephants helping you to achieve your personal goals?

As a librarian, helping others by acquiring, organizing and disseminating knowledge as always been important to me. PPE allows me to do that for a cause I care deeply about.

What do you want to accomplish by serving on the Board?

I want to support cancer prevention, by educating people on what they can do as individuals to reduce their own cancer risk, contribute to reducing cancer causing toxins in the environment, and raise funds for cancer research.  I also want to connect with others who have been recently diagnosed and do whatever I can to help them navigate the often scary, lonely, and overwhelming world of cancer.

What excites you most about the work of Pushing Pink Elephants?

I am excited to be involved in an organization that focuses on cancer prevention, while also providing support to patients and family members fighting the cancer battle.

What personal interests are you passionate about?

In addition to my family and friends, I have always been passionate about holistic, healthy living and the connection between mind, body and spirit.  I enjoy investigating, learning and sharing ways to explore and build those connections.

Where can we find you on a typical weekend?

On weekends you will find me spending time with family, cooking, attending yoga class, meditating, and time permitting, watching old movies or binge watching a show.
